NIH issues dengue advisory amid seasonal trends

05-10-2024

ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued a dengue advisory in response to current seasonal trends, alerting health-related organizations about the need for increased awareness and preventive measures against the disease. The advisory highlighted that the dengue virus is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, identifiable by their distinct black and white stripes. With over 8,900 cases reported in Pakistan this year alone, the risk remains significant as the country, along with over 100 others, grapples with dengue outbreaks. Health authorities have been instructed to implement precautionary measures to combat the spread of the virus effectively. The advisory aims to bolster efforts in controlling the dengue epidemic as the season progresses.
